Supporting community engagement and odour mitigation with environmental intelligence

A North American waste management authority on the West Coast operates nearby other industrial sites and residential communities.  They needed to find a way to confidently confirm or refute responsibility of odour complaints directed at their site with hard evidence.

The authority was established in the 1970s. Since then, it has played an integral role within the community by managing their site with the highest regulatory and environmental standards. This includes confidently collecting, processing, treating, recycling, and disposing of waste within the area.

As with most waste facilities, a key concern is odour emissions due to the impact they can have on the neighbouring communities. The waste management team needed to find a way to transparently demonstrate operational compliance and educate community citizens on the odour issues.

Find out how the waste management authority used environmental intelligence to:

  • Reduce odour related complaints from the local community.

  • Lower the cost of odour reduction strategies.

  • Build a social license to operate in the community
