In a significant achievement that underscores our leadership in innovation of environmental management, Envirosuite has won the prestigious Innovation Award at the 2024 CASANZ Innovation and Excellence in Air Quality Award as part of the 27th International Clean Air and Environment Conference.

The CASANZ Professional Accreditation Review Panel (PARP) of four industry-leading independent judges reviewed and scored each submission for the 2024 awards. The judges' criteria emphasised the innovative approach and tangible impact of the solution, solidifying Envirosuite's position as a pioneer in the field.

Envirosuite's Omnis platform was celebrated for its originality and practical application in improving air quality management. Omnis is currently deployed at a growing number of industrial operations and municipalities across Australia and New Zealand.

The world-leading platform leverages cutting-edge technology to enable proactive air quality management, reducing emissions and maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.

Australia and New Zealand’s Premier Event for Innovation in Air Quality Management

The Clean Air Society of Australia and New Zealand (CASANZ) is a pivotal forum for discussing policies and technologies that improve environmental outcomes. The conference not only showcased innovations but also facilitated critical discussions on the theme "Healthy Air for All? Responding to a Changing Environment."

Through workshops, site visits, and expert panels, participants explored subthemes such as human health, regulatory impacts on air quality, and technical evaluation methods. The exchange of ideas and experiences among participants fostered a collaborative atmosphere, essential for advancing the clean air agenda globally.

This year’s event gathered over 400 experts and decision-makers in Hobart from August 26 to 28, 2024. The carbon-neutral conference, which also included the 10th IWA Odour and Volatile Emissions Conference, highlighted the importance of advancing air quality technology and policy throughout Australia and New Zealand.

Showcasing Groundbreaking Achievements in Air Quality Management

The conference was not just about accolades; it was an opportunity for Envirosuite to showcase groundbreaking advancements in proactve emissions management. Envirosuite’s key experts in air quality, Product Manager – Industrial Chaim Kolominskas  and Techincal Customer Success Manager Danny Craggs presented significant strides made in real-time air quality monitoring with proactive technology.

"Our approach to air quality management is not just about technology; it's about creating a sustainable future where industries and communities thrive together through proactive management of risk." -- Chaim Kolominskas

What did Envirosuite present at CASANZ?

Automated Near-Real Time Identification and Calculation of Area-Based Emissions

Danny Craggs presented a cutting-edge approach to air quality management, focusing on the automated, near-real-time identification and calculation of area-based emissions. This method integrates continuous ambient air quality data, meteorological data, and spatial data to deliver accurate emission estimations, particularly in industrial settings like mines and ports.

By gridding monitoring data and utilizing a flux model, the approach enhances the identification of emission sources, enabling more effective control measures and reducing offsite impacts. This innovative work has demonstrated strong correlation with measured data and has driven the development of new real-time air quality management tools within Envirosuite’s product suite.

‘Activity Location’ in Omnis offers a powerful visualisation of emission sources in real-time across industrial operations to support risk mitigation.

Dynamic Modelling of Odour Risk in Sealed Sewer Systems Using Digital Twins – Analysis at Seven Catchments

Chaim Kolominskas presented a use case example of the Water Corporation in Western Australia taking on challenges with high levels of hydrogen sulfide (H2S) and methane (CH4) in its sealed sewer network, leading to odour and safety issues. To address this, WaterCorporate updated their Network Wastewater Odour and Hazardous Gases Strategy by incorporating predictive modeling and a digital twin technology called SeweX. This technology was piloted in seven catchments, focusing on model accuracy, ease of use, and scalability.

The pilot demonstrated that the digital twin could effectively predict sulfide and methane levels, enabling better risk management and decision-making for interventions like chemical dosing. The project highlighted the value of digital twins in optimising odour management, reducing reliance on physical trials, and improving capital allocation. The digital twin has proved to be a valuable tool for managing odour, corrosion, and safety risks in sewer networks.
