Newcastle Airport Transforms Noise Management with Envirosuite’s NoiseDesk

Newcastle International Airport Limited (NIAL) enhanced its noise management capabilities by replacing an outdated system with Envirosuite’s NoiseDesk. This web-based solution streamlined operations, improved compliance with environmental regulations, and strengthened community engagement, helping the airport maintain positive relations with local residents while supporting future growth. 

NIAL operates near Woolsington, Newcastle upon Tyne, UK, and serves approximately 4.5 million passengers annually, contributing £646 million to the regional economy. As the 11th busiest airport in the UK, NIAL prioritises environmental responsibility and noise abatement to ensure community trust and sustainable expansion. 

The airport faced challenges with its decade-old airport noise monitoring system, which was overly complex and lacked modern web-based features. This made compliance tracking, noise complaint resolution, and stakeholder communication increasingly difficult to manage efficiently. 

To address these challenges, NIAL implemented NoiseDesk, a flexible and user-friendly noise management platform from Envirosuite. NoiseDesk streamlined noise tracking and reporting, enabled real-time data access, and simplified community engagement with features such as flight track mapping, noise event linking, and audible noise recordings. Its browser-based interface allowed staff to access essential data anywhere, reducing administrative burdens while improving transparency and responsiveness.
