The advent of electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft opens the potential of urban air transport. Vertiports are the dedicated ground infrastructure that help realize this future. NASA's Quesst mission has two goals:
1) design and build NASA's X-59 research aircraft with technology that reduces the loudness of a sonic boom to a gentle thump; and
2) fly the X-59 over several U.S. communities to gather data on human responses to the sound generated during supersonic flight and deliver that data set to U.S. and international regulators.

Envirosuite is developing technology to support the second goal and this presentation gives an overview of that work and the project as a whole.

Airspace Navigation Service Providers (ANSPs) are responsible for where planes fly, and have the enormous challenge of modernising airspace to meet the ever-increasing demand for capacity. The enroute sectors are where the most fuel is burned and these legs make the dominant contribution to Aviation’s carbon footprint. Learn how Envirosuite is collaborating with Canadian ANSP NAV CANADA to publish CANSO performance metrics and measure the carbon efficiency of actual airspace use. These scores of ‘delay in the NAS’ will increase on-time performance and streamline operations for airports. But airports also must collaborate with renewed focus on gate and apron management as it affects ATC outcomes.

Get insights into new noise metrics. In the UK, CAA UK introduced a CAP2302 supported by Sustainable Aviation, and Gatwick Airport are leading an initiative to complement the current CDO (Continuous Descent Operation) metric by introducing a new Low Noise Arrivals Metric.

As the operator of Toronto Pearson International Airport, the largest and busiest airport in Canada, GTAA have a comprehensive noise management program that helps them develop, manage and operate the airport efficiently and effectively.

Heathrow is the UK’s only Hub airport and therefore plays a big role in underpinning the UK’s economic success, connecting regions across the country to over 200 destinations in over 80 countries.

Heathrow has long been at the forefront of international efforts to address aircraft noise and is proud of the fact that, despite the number of aircraft movements at the airport going up, its noise footprint has shrunk considerably over the past few decades and is at the smallest it has ever been. This trend has continued ever since the Noise Action Planning process has been in place. During this presentation, Heathrow will give an insight into how the action plan has shaped noise mitigation strategies, why a plan was needed, the regulation behind it and how it is helping investigate new and ground-breaking technologies and concepts.

Public scrutiny around the changes that airports are making to add capacity, build new infrastructure change routes, add new airlines, and introduce new aircraft types is intense, informed, and relentless. The ever-tightening regulations for noise, air quality and net zero targets demands more frequent and informative reporting, imaginative engagement and proactive strategies. Post-implementation reviews of change are gruelling processes that leave a legacy of constraints and burden on airports and ANSPs. Stakeholder collaboration is evolving and extending to include community representation into choices that affect the near-team and five-year future of airports. This lively panel will share stories and lessons from your peers around what has worked well and what has not.

Learn about the issues Biggin Hill Airport was facing that led to the need to monitor air quality around the airfield, and some of the initial findings and future ideas for management of aviation air quality.

With the increased focus on cybersecurity and fast-moving technologies, working with the right partner is crucial. Hear how Envirosuite have been adapting new technologies and expanded the teams to ensure secure quality services for our customers now and in the future.

Learn about some of the major product enhancements since the last forum. Highlights include the new Environment Monitoring Unit and how it is supported in ANOMS and NoiseDesk, support for generating noise modelling scenarios for AEDT and carbon emissions inventory using ANOMS data, single-sign-on and federated logins, and dynamic reports/dashboards.

Measured noise is essential to validating that an airport is meeting its regulatory obligations. Measured noise also trusted by people as being most representative of the ‘lived experience’ of residents, because it finds the annoying factors that modelling will miss, or the sounds that modelling does not report such as the use of reverse thrust, increased noise due to weather factors, or noise transmission when an inversion layer is present. Communities are also making their own noise, making it difficult to attribute measured noise between aircraft and community. This panel will discuss innovative approaches to addressing these challenges, including where and what you can measure and how to manage community expectations around this, as well as exploring the value of doing more than contours and LDEN reporting.
